29th November - Tyne, Wear & Tees Hound


A year on from being awarded his first Best Veteran in Show award, Seamus does it again winning the award from judge Mrs Val McCormack of Tulak Afghan Hounds at the Tyne, Wear and Tees Hound Open Show.

17th November - Seamus' 8th Birthday!!


Today my special boy turned 8!!


He is photographed with his birthday Happy Hippo toy which he loves.


16th November - Humberside Hound Open Show


We had a lovely trip out to Humberside Hound this weekend and it turned out to be a great day all round. Seamus was declared Best of Breed and Best Veteran in Breed by Beagle breed judge Richard Ravell. Seamus was then shortlisted to the final 8 for Best in Show, later being declared Best Veteran in Show!! Many thanks to judge Mr Rod Price for thinking so highly of CH Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM.

To add to our great wins, our travel companions Helen Johnston and Jig won Best Puppy in Breed and Reserve Best Puppy in Show, only being beaten by Seamus' grandson Molesend Orlando (AI) at his very first show.





2nd November - West Mercia Beagle CH Show

CH Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM wins the dog CC from Mr Frank Kane. Kes is then declared Best In Show after the nod from the bitch judge Mrs Helen Caple.

18th September - N&MC Beagle Open Show


We had a great day at the Northern & Midland Counties Beagle Club under judge Mrs Lesley Chalmers with Seamus winning Best Veteran in Show and Reserve Best Dog. Seamus is pictured on the left, photographed kindly by Christine Hartland.


Kizzy was placd 2nd in a filled Graduate bitch class after an animated performance!!

20th September - Driffield CH Show


CH Newlin Kestrel caught the eye of judge Mr Martin Saunders winning the DCC, taking his CC tally to 4.

12th September - Darlington CH Show


Today's judge was Mr Moray Armstrong and first up was Seamus who won the Veteran dog class. Kestrel won Limit dog and went on the be awarded the RDCC. Kizzy was placed 3rd in open bitch gaining her her Stud Book Number.

23rd August - Scottish Kennel Club CH Show

A day to remember for Liz at the Scottish Kennel Club Championship Show, winning Best of Breed under breed judge Mr Jim Linden of Bruadair Beagles.

Kes then went on to win the Hound Group under the man who had awarded him his crowning CC just the previous week, Andrew Brace.

15th August - Welsh Kennel Club CH Show


Fantastic news from Liz to say that Newlin Kestrel won his 3rd and crowning CC at the Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show today. Kes was also awarded Best of Breed from breed judge Andrew Brace.

To top off a wonderful day, Kes went on to be placed 3rd in the Hound Group under judge Anne MacDonald.

25th July - Leeds CH Show


Just Seamus at today's show and I was delighted when he won the Veteran Dog class.

It was great to see Seamus' son, Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM win the Limit dog class too.

6th July - Lanchester Agricultural Society


No shows this weekend, but I was still in the ring - judging my first breed, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's at Lanchester Agricultural Society's Open Show.

My Best of Breed is pictured and was Chantismere Charade Kayceekay JW ShCM, a dog that oozed quality and ring presence.



29th June - Ashington & D.C.S


After a break from the show ring, Miss Kiz was back winning the limit class and Best of Breed at Ashington Canine Society's open show. Our judge today was Alayna Allan.




26th June - Windsor CH Show


Seamus and I had a lovely little trip away to the beautiful Windsor with our whippet friends whilst Kizzy stayed at home with her dad.

Giving CCs for the first time was Marina Scott of Belsmard fame and we were delighted when Seamus won the Veteran dog class and later the RCC!!

A fantastic day filled with fun, sun and pimms!! Thank you to Samantha Webster capturing Seamus moving out beautifully to win the RCC.




21st June - Blackpool CH Show


June has proven to be a fantastic month for Seamus son - Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM with him winning his second CC in a matter of days under breed judge Darren Fellows "Rosanka".

To top off a wonderful day for Liz and Kes, Patricia Clayton awarded him Hound Group 2.

7th June - The Beagle Club CH Show


Liz Calikes and her Seamus son, Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM had a wonderful day at The Beagle Club Championship Show winning Kes' first CC from judge Ken Burgess "Dufosee".

Kes later went on to be declared Reserve Best in Show behind this year's Crufts Best of Breed winner, chosen by Liz!

4th May - Seaham & D.C.S.


How lovely to have a show within half a mile of home!!


Today was another great day in the ring with Miss Kizzy - Newlin Kismet for Salenko winning BOB from judge Miss Charley Donaldson.


I was then thrilled when Kizzy showed her socks off to go on and win the Hound Group from judge Leigh Morrison. Kizzy is pictured looking beautiful on the left.


Not to be outdone, Seamus was awarded Best Hound Veteran meaning that not only would Kizzy compete in Best in Show, Seamus would be competing in Best Veteran in Show.


I was thrilled when the Best in Show judge, Mrs Judith Carruthers awarded Seamus Best Veteran in Show!! (pictured bottom left)





19th April - Beagle Club of NI CH Show


A trip over the Irish Sea saw possibly our best ever showing day with CH Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM winning the Dog CC from the Veteran class and then to my delight won Best in Show. Seamus was automatically declared Best Veteran in Show.


Seamus' daughter Newlin Kismet for Salenko won the Junior bitch class and her brother Newlin Kestrel (owned by Liz Calikes) won his Junior dog class.


Huge thanks to breed specialist judge Ann Phillips for such a fantastic day over the water.


This is the second time Seamus has won the DCC at this show so a lucky show?

12th April - Hound Assoc. of Scotland CH Show


Well done Liz and Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM winning the Junior dog class at the Hound Association of Scotland Championship Show under judge Lynda Havard "Annavah" Beagles . Kes then went on to be awarded the RCC.

Newlin Kismet for Salenko won the Junior bitch class at the same show.

23rd March - FCBC CH Show


Well done Liz and Newlin Kestrel JW ShCM winning the Junior dog class at the Four Counties Beagle Club Championship Show under judge Nigel Blackstock. Thanks to Hazel Deans for this photograph of Kes.


23rd February - Billingham Synthonia C.S.


Miss Kizzy steps up to compete with the big boys this weekend, winning both the Beagle Graduate and Beagle Open classes then going one further to win Best of Breed from breed judge Miss Claire Jones of Clairedale Beagles. I was thrilled when Kizzy then went on to be placed 2nd in a large Hound Group under judge Mr Bill Armstrong. Thanks to both judges for these fabulous awards.

9th February - N&M Counties Beagle Club


Our first show of the year was a huge success with Seamus winning Reserve Best in Show, Best Dog and Best Veteran in Show. Miss Kizzy also had a good day being placed 3rd in a large, quality Junior bitch class and 2nd in the Novice Bitch class. Many thanks to our breed specialist judge Mrs Michelle Kingsland of Redcap Beagles.
