2011 News

Where do I begin with what a fantastic year 2011 was...?

This year I made up my first Champion in the breed and who would have thought it would have been a tan and white male?!?!

We attended very few shows this year and were delighted to pick up a further two CCs, a BOB and a breed club BEST IN SHOW along the way. Wow!!

Since winning his 4th CC Seamus, has enjoyed a rest and a long break from the show ring. He will make very few attendances at shows in 2012 as I think he has won more than enough than I could have ever hoped for.

Many congratulations to the Shay kids flying the flag round Europe and here in the UK. Keep up the good work in 2012.

7th December

This weekend saw Hertta hit the German showring on her short stay in Germany with her breeder Daggi.

She did so with flair winning Best Junior in Breed at the National Dog Show in Kassel. This win was awarded by judge R. Sporr.

14th October

Now this was definitely Senna's weekend!!

Winning Runner Up Best in Show at the National Dog Show in Dortmund under judge Hans Wiblishauser - way to go!!

Senna continues his winning ways at the City of Birmingham Championship Show under breed judge Mrs Barbara Roderick "Barterhound".

At this last show on British soil, Franjean Ayrton Senna wins both the puppy dog and junior dog class and then is declared Best Puppy Dog.

Well done Daggi xx

Senna is captured beautifully waiting to be assessed. Many thanks to Sam Dawson for this lovely photograph.

28th August

Senna must like his British roots and has continued his winning streak on British soil... This weekend saw him declared Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy In Breed at the Scottish Kennel Club's Championship Show under judge Mr Tim Jones "Eardley".

Senna's critique reads:

"impressive youngster, well muscled and fit. Typical male head which won him the class. Good neck and shoulders, topline and tailset to admire. Excellent hindquarters moving with drive. BP & RBD"

Many congratulations Daggi!!

27th August

This weekend saw the Northern & Midland Counties Beagle Club annual Championship show and boy what a great show it was!!

Under breed specialist Kathleen Cooper "Caurnihill Beagles", CH Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM wins the Open dog class and is awarded his 4th CC!!

Shay then goes one better than previously, and on the referee's decision (Mrs Marina Walker "Barughgreen Beagles") is declared Best In Show!! Thanks to all the judges for these fabulous awards. Shay is pictured (thanks to Daggi) winning the DCC.

At his first British show, Shay's son Franjean Ayrton Senna qualifies for Crufts 2012, adding to a fantastic day!!

It was a great thrill to finally receive confirmation of Shay's crown.

Now formally known as CH Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM, Shay now has no more letters to gain!!

21st August

International Dog Show news from Leipzig, Germany.

Under judge P. Beyersdorf and at only his third show as a junior, Franjean Ayrton Senna gained his junior crown!! This means that Shay son, Senna is now a GERMAN JUNIOR CHAMPION VDH & BCD. Senna also now has the title Junior Winner Leipzig 2011.

An amazing acheivement Daggi and Senna, especially as Senna is only 9 months of age. Well done Daggi!!

18th June

** Seamus wins his 3rd and crowning CC at Border Union **

Wow what a day!!

Under breed specialist Mrs M Walker, Shay was awarded his 3rd and crowning Challenge Certificate!!! Shay is photographed on the left looking on top form at the show.

The critique from the show reads:

"This dog won a super limit class the last time I judged him & today deserved the top award. Super t/w stallion hound, oozes quality without a hint of coarseness, masculine head with well defined stop, arched neck to correct lay of shoulder, elbows firm, ribs well sprung with strength through the loins. Ultra sound with excellent well devloped hindquarters whihc powered him round this spacious ring. CC & BOB"

Many thanks to our judge Mrs Walker for these awards and for such a beautiful critique.

Thanks also to all our friends for their support, kind words and fantastic congratulations cards!!

18th June

Senna must have known that his father had become a British Champion today!!

Today I received great news from Daggi that Franjean Ayrton Senna (CH Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM x Ob La Di's Princess Leia) had been awarded Best Puppy In Breed at the International Dog Show Sczecin in Poland.

Senna is pictured on the right entering the main ring with Daggi. Further pictures of Senna can be seen on Seamus's progeny page.

Many congratulations to Daggi for this great win.

28th May

It was Tyne, Wear & Tees Hound Association's Open show this weekend and the breed judge was Mrs Marina Scott "Belsmard". Shay has had former success under this judge in the past so was left at home. As it happened, Sam was working this weekend so Newlin Chalice at Molesend JW was entered for me to show. I was delighted when Chalice was awarded Best of Breed.

Thanks to judge Mrs Scott for this award and also for the lovely critique:

"Really loved this bitch who oozed quality, is so feminine and well muscled. Her head is exquisite, of correct proportions, long leathers hanging close to head and kind eye with good pigmentation. Fantastic classical shape in profile, long neck into well laid back shoulders. Ribcage well sprung. Correct rear assembly with nice bend of stifle. Movement so true for and aft and easy striding side gait. Handler really got the best out of her"

21st May

We've had no shows in a while and as you can see from the photograph, Shay has enjoyed his free time running in fields and playing on the beach!

24th April

I was delighted to be invited to judge the Hound Group at Selkirk and District Canine Society's Easter Sunday show. It was an incredibly friendly, well run show and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my appointment.

I am pictured on the right with my Best of Breed Beagle, Barterhound Bouquet for Gempeni JW ShCM.

Other photographs of my Best of Breed winners will be uploaded soon.

16th April

Continuing her excellent start to her show career, Franjean Adelaide for Komsilan (Newlin Victor of Salenko JW ShCM x Ob La Di's Princess Leia) is awarded BOS at the Helsinki Puppy Dog Show!!

Many congratulations to Hertta's owners Pilvi and Janne.

3rd April

What a busy day for the European Shay kids!!

I was thrilled to hear news from Helsinki, Finland that Shay's daughter "Franjean Adelaide for Komsilan" was awarded Best Baby in Breed and then went one better to be awarded 3rd Best Baby in Group. The judge was breed specialist Eeva Resko. Hertta's is pictured on the left in her official show photograph. Well done to Hertta's owners Pilvi and Janne.

Elsewhere in Europe, Shay's son Senna "Franjean Ayrton Senna" made an excellent start to his German show career.

At the CAC show in Berlin, Senna was awarded Very Promising 1 in the baby class from judge Mr Wal Westren of Deanery Beagles fame.

Interestingly enough Mr Westren awarded Senna's father, a very strong Open dog class at the Scottish Beagle Championship show in June, 2010. His wife also recently awarded Shay 2nd in Open dog at Crufts 2011!!

Senna is pictured on the right with his owner/handler Dagmara Kocur and breed judge Mr Wal Westren.

12th March

Not quite believing how quickly Crufts 2011 came round, we off to the NEC again!!

This year's judge was Mrs Jean Westren of Deanery Beagles. It was Shay's first year in the Open dog class and without doubt was filled with Champions from all over the world. To my absolute delight Shay was placed 2nd in the class behind the DCC winner. This was Shay's 4th Crufts and this win meant that he has been placed every year he has attended, which is a nice little record for us.

Thanks to Sam Dawson "Rundle Beagles" for the lovely photograph (left) taken while the judge was writing her critique.

12th February

This weekend saw the first breed club Open show of the year. Shay was entered but didn't attend (the temptation of a relaxing weekend was too much!!).

I was delighted to receive a text informing me that Shay's daughter, Newlin Chalice at Molesend had been awarded Best in Show by judge Mr Ralph Ford.

A fabulous start to 2011 for Chalice and Sam.

Thanks to Ralph Ford for this lovely photograph.

29th January

Today I judged Beagles at Lichfield Canine Associations' Open Show. I had some lovely Beagles entered and it was a very enjoyable show.

My winners are photographed on the right:

BOB - CH Bayard Make Amends

RBOB - AUST CH Briarley Boy From Oz at Lanesend

BP - Lanesend Rossut Sizzle

I was delighted to see my Best of Breed go on to win the Hound Group under judge Ian Bryne "Kunniakas" and then Reserve Best In Show under judge Kevan Berry "Ricksbury". Today's win gives CH Bayard Make Amends her final Junior Warrant points too.

29th January

The latest Shay baby to hit the show ring is Franjean Ayrton Senna owned and bred by Dagmara Kocur in Germany.

Senna made a fantastic start to his show career winning Reserve Baby Best In Show at the International Dog Show in Glogow.

Senna is pictured on the left with Daggi. It was also Daggi's birthday, so a very nice present for her!

Well done guys, and may it be the first of many victories xx

8th January

Congratulations to Newlin Chalice of Molesend JW (Shay daughter) on winning the Tyne, Wear & Tees Hound of the Year 2010 Runner Up prize. A small coincidence being that Shay won the exact same award the year previous.

Chalice is pictured on the right with the surprise judge for the evening Fran Mitchell of the famous Bronia Dachshunds.

Well done Chalice and Sam!!
